The Government of the Republic of Ghana officially launched the ECTN SPN Certification Notice on November 1, 2023.

ECTN (Electronic Commerce Transaction Number) is an electronic transaction authentication system implemented by the Government of the Republic of Ghana to regulate export controls. The certification aims to ensure that all exported goods comply with Ghanaian laws and regulations to safeguard national security and public interest.

According to the ECTN SPN Certification Notice, all goods exported to Ghana must apply for an ECTN number prior to shipment and provide this number on the export declaration. To apply for ECTN number, the following materials should be submitted: copy of exporter's business license, copy of importer's business license, copy of contract, copy of proforma invoice and list of goods.

Ghana Customs has started to impose penalties on goods that do not apply for ECTN numbers. To avoid unnecessary financial losses and delays, exporters should ensure that the application for ECTN numbers is completed before shipment.

The introduction of the ECTN SPN Certification Notice by the Government of Ghana is an important step in strengthening export controls to protect national interests and public safety. We advise exporters to keep up to date with the certification requirements and actively cooperate with the Government of Ghana to implement the ECTN system to ensure smooth export of goods to the Republic of Ghana. If you have any questions or need further information about the ECTN system.
